RESEARCH - CONSERVATION - EDUCATION
Who we are
Conexiones Terramar is a non-profit organization based in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Orcas Mexico, part of the organization's portfolio, is a project launched in 2018 thanks to the passion and commitment of this team. Our project focuses on investigating the biology, ecology, and social structure of orcas in the Gulf of California. We also focus on understanding how anthropogenic activities may affect the health of this unique population of orcas and their prey. We use photo-identification as the basis of our long-term studies, allowing us to track individuals at different life stages to characterize their life cycle and monitor population dynamics. We cork in collaboration with other research organizations, stakeholders, local communities, and private sector to ensure our efforts are relevant to current research and conservation priorities. Finally, we use citizen science as another powerful tool to raise awareness, inspire, and empower future generations in their commitment to conservation.
Vision
"A thriving planet where wildlife flourishes, ecosystems are protected, and future generations live in harmony with nature."
Mission
Our mission is to monitor the population, diet, behavior, and health status of orcas in the Gulf of California, raise awareness about this species and the critical habitats they inhabit, and offer an opportunity for ocean lovers to experience this firsthand.
